Not Dead Yet...Just meditating

Evolution of a Soul under a Green Roof by Sonia Bednar and Lynn Webber

For years I ignored the signs in my body telling me to slow down and listen until a terminal illness led me on a challenging journey towards deep awakening, trust and spiritual healing.

Like many people in this modern world, I was disconnected from myself, my family, the natural world, actually from most things that really mattered. Distracted by career, technology, money, possessions and social norms, many have lost the connection to our true Self because of the societal pressures to conform to the system. By keeping so busy, we easily lose touch with our true Selves. But it is always here, present within us, even when we are not.

My body kept tapping me on the shoulder, telling me to slow down and listen but I was too busy... a convenient excuse. It was cancer that eventually forced me to take notice. At the age of 53, everything changed as my eyes were opened for the first time. I could never have imagined the incredible journey I was about to begin that would challenge every convention in my structured world. We have all been wearing blinkers.

It is time to wake up. Life is way beyond anything we could have ever imagined.

Present Tense People

Five First Nations Stories that will change the way you see the past and the present. A collection of stories by Birrala, Indiya, Koort, Thuwarri and Warranany as told to Lynn Webber

What’s it like to be a young First Nations person living in Australia in the 21st century? Present Tense People is a collection of stories about five young Australians: Koort, an employee of a mining magnate, Birrala, a nurse, Indiya, an education student, Thuwarri, an archaeology student and Warranany, a recent school graduate. They all share a common bond of First Nations ancestry, a deep connection to country and hope for a better future. However, their lives are also linked by ancestral and intergenerational grief, stereotypes and racism. Inspirational, real and honest, these stories have the power to challenge and possibly change your ideas about Australia’s history and what it means to be a First Nations warrior living in the present tense.
Thuwarri, storyteller: I hope this book and our stories will educate people and the truth of the historical events that happened, as well as the real rawness of intergenerational trauma that still exists in our families today- a direct result of colonisation. And that "getting over it" isn't quite that easy!
Indiya, storyteller: This book is a miracle. What a wonderful journey it has been and what a beautiful gift to help people challenge their perspectives.

Keny Djena - First feet

The Story Of Joobaitch, a Nyoongar Elder by Dr Noel Nannup, Alison Nannup, Kamsani Bin Salleh and Lynn Webber

Keny Djena means 'first feet' in the Nyoongar language and refers to the First Nations who have lived in the south-west of W.A. since the Dreaming. The central character of the narrative is Joobaitch, a Whadjuk leader from the Beeloo nation who was born at Yulebrook in the mid-1830s on the brink of the British invasion of Boorloo (Perth).
